HISTORY OF FREIGHT FORWARDERS

The earliest records about freight forwarding describe International Freight Forwarders as Inn Keepers in London, England, Inn Keepers would hold and forward clients (guests) personal effects staying at their Hotel. The First Freight Forwarder on record is Thomas Meadows and company, of London. Thomas Meadows and Company was established in 1836. In 1889 a company called Rockwell International Freight bought out Thomas Meadows and Company. Delmar International then purchased Rockwell International Freight in 1990, Delmar was based in Montreal, Canada.

When consigning international air freight it is important to ensure you goods are well packaged for international transportation and clearly addressed and labelled correctly ( if your cargo is fragile, use fragile stickers or “this way up” etc as required), if you are sending more than one piece CargoMaster suggests that you number your pieces.
